These are some demo songs that we recorded in 2007. Although they are not strictly live, they are good representations of what we sound like.
The band (drums, bass, both guitars, and keys) was recorded live in our rehearsal space. Eight tracks were recorded using a Presonus Firepod into Cubase LE software on a Dell laptop computer. Two other two tracks were recorded through a Digidesign Mbox 2 Mini into another Dell laptop running Pro Tools LE 7.3. Later, the eight Cubase LE tracks were imported into Pro Tools, where all further recording, editing, mixing took place.
We overdubbed all vocals, percussion, acoustic guitar, and some extra keyboard parts. Everything was mixed using the Dell computer into some decent AKG headphones. Thus, they may not sound so good on your stereo or in your car, but they're pretty nice through your computer headphones. To decrease download size, the files were saved at a low bitrate, so they're not too high quality, anyway.
The original idea was to recreate the Purple Ravens' live sound as closely as possible. However, after editing and bunch of overdubs, we decided to make the recordings sound as good as we can. The arrangements are exactly how we play them live.
